On December 20, 2010, the Ground Breaking Ceremony was conducted on the newly purchased one-hectare lot for the future Lyceum of Alabang University (LAU) . The property is located along the National Road, Tunasan, City of Muntinlupa. A popular landmark is the St. Peregrine Church, still accessible to public transportation and business establishments. The location is conducive to learning and discipline.
Included in the “possible dream” is the integrated Elementary and Secondary School as recently approved by the Department of Education (Dep. Ed).The said basic education is in line with the Bachelor of Elementary and Secondary Education (BEE / BSE) courses being offered by Lyceum. It is well-said that it’s much better to produce “home-grown teachers” for Lyceum’s own school.
Aside from Education courses, there are other courses approved by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) such as Criminal Justice (Criminology), Business Management, Accountancy, Office Management, Customs Administration, Computer Courses, Hotel & Restaurant Management, and others.
They shall still be offered at LAU Campus with complete facilities, laboratories, faculty and college personnel and services. The former main campus shall remain in use by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). Provided in the new campus is a space for sports development. Students organizations and clubs are expected to multiply. Stockholders shall increase.
The LAU development has been a surprise for many Lyceum graduates and stockholders. Others like government officials, educators and business friends continue to encourage the development. The biblical principle of growth must be “in favor with God and with man”. The LAU proposal is biblical.
The idea of university is not merely surprising to many people but it’s a long time wish of pushing it through. After the Ground Breaking rites, the firm decision is “no turning back”. The dream being realized is God’s gift in the pursuit of the College goals, to wit:
Absolutely it is really no turning back. The commitment is beyond life. Doing the best for the Lord during this earthly life is a good commitment. Nobody passés this way again. This life is the only chance. A good reminder is that “Life is short and Death is sure.” It’s always possible to maximize accomplishments in the minimum period of time.
This is your President-CEO hoping for the best of 2011 for all Lyceans and Lyceum friends.
